In preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter peak loads IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division for five months of this year carried out about 32% of the annual repair program. The energy company repaired over 464 km of power lines of 0.4-110 kV, 10 feeding centres of 35-110 kV, as well as about 249 transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV. To prevent power outages caused by falling tree limbs on wires, over 294 hectares of ROWs along lines were cleared and extended. Overall, the planned volume of the repair campaign at this time has been made at 103%.

At the 110 kV substations 'Poultry' and 'Donets', the 35 kV substations 'Annovka', 'Nikolskoye', 'Borisy', 'Saprykino', 'Neminuscheye', 'Nikolaevka', 'Foschevatovo', 'Red' completed comprehensive and intermediate overhaul has been completed. The feeding centre 'Poultry' supplies electricity to the Poultry Processing Plant 'Prioskolie' in Novy Oskol district. The 110 kV substation 'Donets' provides electricity to the central part of Belgorod, the railway, the trolleybus depot, and the plant of construction materials. 35 kV substations are responsible for the uninterrupted supply of electricity to sites of large agro-industrial enterprises in the region, individual housing sites, consumers of tens of settlements of Korochansky, Belgorodsky, Alekseevsky, Veydelevsky, Krasnogvardeisky and Volokonovsky districts. Some of these feeding centres were constructed over 25 years ago, and therefore require constant monitoring and regular preventive measures to improve the reliability of power supply to consumers. The need for repairs at the facilities is defined as the standard terms of the equipment and its current state, recorded by the diagnostics service and reflected in the data base of the branch.

The most important area of the repair program is still clearing ROWs of 0.4-110 kV power lines from tree and shrub seedlings. When bad weather these are tree branches falling on wires that become one of the causes of power outages. By now 294.3 hectares of ROWs of power lines have been cleared and expanded, which is 106.4% of the plan.

For more effective implementation of work the branch uses utilizers of forest residues and mulchers, which provide acceleration of cutting ROWs by 5-6 times. The machine not only cuts trees and shrubs with a diameter up to 40 cm without difficulty, but then grinds them to a state of small chips, then carpets the surface of the earth with the chips. After such clearing wood waste recycling is no longer required. The mulcher can clear per shift from 1 to 1.5 hectares, replacing a team of 12 people.

In recent years the energy company has performed repairs by own staff. This year over 70% of the work will be done without the involvement of contractors. This allows reducing costs, while maintaining the planned physical volumes.

The repair program of the branch is aimed at ensuring proper operation of lines and substations, trouble-free operation through the autumn-winter period and a general increase in the reliability of electric grid facilities of the region. This year 251.5 million rubles will be spent for these purposes.
