Issues of preventing and reducing the level of occupational injuries, occupational safety, health and life of personnel are priority tasks for IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division. 28.35 million rubles were allocated for the first half of 2017 to implement measures to protect labour.

Priority areas in the field of occupational safety are measures to prevent accidents, the purchase of personal protective equipment, tools and devices, measures to prevent diseases at work, events to improve the working conditions of personnel. Also among the important areas in the field of labour protection is the training of Smolenskenergo's employees in safe methods and ways of conducting work, improving knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health, as well as testing safety knowledge with relevant personnel. First of all, knowledge of the rules on labour protection in the operation of electrical installations, the rules of technical operation and fire safety is checked, and the skills of first aid in case of accidents at work are also tested. In the first half of the year, electricians who were employed in the branch, were trained in the framework of a new position in their structural subdivisions, and pre-examination training was also conducted.

Monthly in the permanent commission of the branch, 14 managers of structural subdivisions and employees of the branch pass an examination of knowledge, in the commissions of units - 90 employees.

The branch cares not only about the safety of its own employees, but also works to reduce risks of injury to third parties at Smolenskenergo's facilities. In 2017, the program to reduce the risks of injury to third parties involves the implementation of a whole range of measures for the technical improvement of electrical installations operation and the prevention of electrical injury. Activities of the program on the basis of the results of 6 months have been fully implemented. Smolenskenergo's electric grid facilities have periodic rounds and inspections in order to identify, among other things, integrity of doors, locking devices, signs and safety posters.

Particular attention is paid to outreach work among various groups of the population. There are conversations of specialists of the branch in children's health camps and electrical safety lessons in schools of the Smolensk region. Throughout the school year, Smolensk power engineers visit the schools of the region where special classes on electrical safety, as well as extra-curricular activities, are held jointly with teachers. Until the end of the year, Smolenskenergo's power engineers will continue to conduct consistent and systematic work to prevent electrical injuries among residents of the region.
