First-year students of the Power Supply Department of the South-Western State University visited IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division.

The event was held at the Kursk Region Energy History Museum. Specialists of the branch told the students about the stages of the Kursk energy system formation, people who were at the source of its creation, the role of energy in the social and economic development of the region; they showed them unique archival documents and photographs. With the help of an interactive map, the young people learned how the electrification of settlements of the region took place, when the first lines and substations were constructed.

At the end of the tour the young people thanked the power engineers for an interesting and rich meeting. 'Such events allow students not only to get acquainted with the history of the development of the energy system of their native land, but also to undergo a kind of immersion in the profession, to make sure that the work of power engineers is responsible and important,' stressed Nikolay Gaidash, Assistant Professor of the Power Supply Department.

Study tours are one of important components of career guidance work, which Kurskenergo conducts among the younger generation. In 2018, more than 400 students and schoolchildren from various educational institutions of the region will visit the branch's facilities.
