During the New Year holidays energy specialists of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) ensured the reliable power supply to consumers in the regions of the Company's responsibility areas (the Saratov, Samara, Orenburg, Penza, Ulyanovsk regions, the Republic of Mordovia and the Chuvash Republic).
The weather conditions prevailing during the New Year holidays led to increased icing on the wires of overhead power lines. From December 31, 2016 till January 08, 2017 the power specialists performed 268 operations on ice-coat melting of the overhead transmission lines and grounding wires (for the same period of the previous season - 26 operations). Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the specialists of IDGC of Volga, PJSC working in the intensive mode, prevented the electricity transmission shortage to the customers.
All branches of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies), inspected their emergency response teams for availability of protection means, necessary equipment and special-purpose machinery, including backup power sources of different capacity.
Personnel members attended additional briefings on operational irregularities. Specialists of the company checked the work quality of the alert system and took additional counter-terrorism and fire safety measures.
In all branches of IDGC of Volga, PJSC the availability and readiness of staff and facilities for the elimination of emergency situations at power grid facilities in winter conditions were ensured: 902 repair teams, 4,729 people, 1,703 units of auto- and special purpose vehicles. The staff is provided with special clothes and footwear, personal protective equipment, including sets of special arc-resistant clothes and footwear. The company has 111 back-up power sources with a total capacity of 10.361 MW. Their readiness for use was tested during the emergency and recovery operations. The emergency reserve is staffed by 100%, the storage locations ensure that equipment and materials can be delivered to potentially affected sites in the shortest time possible.
The executive office and branches of the Company carried out 24-hour duty of the managing and operational personnel in accordance with the approved schedule. During the New Year holidays power was supplied to consumers without failures.
