Local Artist Turns Trash into Treasure at "Art in MTR" Exhibition

One man's trash is another man's treasure. While toilet paper rolls and foam net packaging for fruit usually go straight into the bin, local artist and upcycling enthusiast Ms Agnes Pang transforms them into vivid art pieces. Ms Pang works with the forms and textures of waste materials and transfoms them into vibrant paintings and home decoration items. Starting from today (24 April 2018), her upcycled art pieces under the collection "A Green Spring" are on display at Entrance/Exit J of MTR Central Station till 30 June 2018 under the MTR Corporation's "Art in MTR" programme.

"There is no such thing as waste and I hope my artwork could bring new life to unwanted objects, making them thrive like budding plants in spring. I try to nurture children's creativity and help them understand that we can make full use of what we have," said Ms Pang.

"Ms Pang's delightful artwork enhances awareness in the community on waste reduction and environmental protection. This echoes with the visions of the MTR Corporation as we strive to become one of the most resource-efficient and ecologically sustainable railway operators in the world. We implement comprehensive environmental management and monitoring plans on impacts relating to noise, air and water quality, waste, energy use and biodiversity," said Ms Linda So, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation.

"A Green Spring" is the latest art exhibition in the "Art in MTR" programme under the Community Connect platform of MTR Corporation. "Art in MTR" is a popular platform for aspiring artists, designers and talented individuals in the creative industries to showcase their works to the community. The objective of this programme is to enhance passengers' travelling experience through easy access to different art elements including live performances, short-term art exhibitions and permanent displays of art pieces.
