New Comic to Promote MTR Safety

MTR Corporation kicks-off a Safety Campaign entitled "Travel Safely Every Day in the MTR" today (24 July 2017). A series of new promotional posters in comic style and three railway safety videos are launched to convey two important safety messages, reminding customers not to bring any dangerous goods into the MTR and advising them of the response procedures during an emergency.

The Safety Campaign supplements the Corporation's ongoing programmes to raise the safety awareness of everyone who uses the MTR network. These programmes include regular drills and exercises, safety talks, station visits, as well as publicity campaigns to inform the public on how to react in the event of an emergency situation in the MTR.

"Safety, as always, is our top priority. To maintain a safe railway system, in addition to the efforts of MTR staff, we also need the support and cooperation of our customers. Through the Safety Campaign this year, we hope to raise public awareness on the importance of not bringing dangerous goods into the railway system, and provide our customers with a better understanding of the response procedures in case of an emergency," said Mr Adi Lau, Operations Director of MTR Corporation.

"This year, we launch a series of promotional posters about railway safety using photorealistic drawings in comic style. We hope to enhance customers' travel safety awareness through these refreshing illustrations," said Ms Jeny Yeung, Commercial Director of MTR Corporation.

The new railway safety videos will be broadcast on trains and in station concourses, while the promotional posters will appear throughout the rail network. Safety Ambassadors in red uniform will be deployed at selected stations to remind customers of safety tips and distribute mini board games carrying related messages. A Facebook game will be launched from 27 July to 10 August 2017 to allow customers to test their railway safety knowledge in a fun and interesting manner. The top 50 participants with the highest scores in the game each day will be awarded with coffee coupons.
