In 2014 the Muehlhan Group's US subsidiary was awarded a USD 4.3mil contract to rehabilitate a large trestle bridge and two small truss bridges that support a hydroelectric penstock. The project is located in the pristine and environmentally sensitive Cedar River watershed, which is a major source of drinking water for the City of Seattle. The project includes removing the existing coatings by abrasive blasting and applying a new moisture-cured urethane coating system. The project also included removal of approximately 100 tons of existing contaminated soil underneath the trestle bridge that needed to be removed so that our preservation work on the structural steel members could be performed. The work was scheduled to be completed in 2015, but due to drought conditions, the project is in suspension until some time this fall, due to elevated fire danger in the forest.
