    Polymer Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors Murata's polymer capacitor has the feature of low ESR, low impedance, and large scale. Furthermore, there is no DC bias characteristic of capacitance, and since temperature characteristics are also stable, it excels in the Rippl absorption, smoothness, and the transient response performance. 
    Therefore, it is suitable for smoothing of input-output current of various power supply circuits, and the backup use over the load change of the CPU circumference. This contributes to reduction of the number of parts, or reduction of substrate area.

    The Trimmer capacitor is used in some applications that generally have no need to adjust again after the initial adjustment.

    There are basically three different principles shown in below that can be adjust capacitance.
    Generally most of the commercial products are using the first principle.
    • Principle 1: change the overlap electrode area between parallel facing electrodes.
    • Principle 2: change the distance between parallel facing electrodes.
    • Principle 3: change the dieelectric constant of ceramics.
    The actual trimmer capacitor product has a dielectric ceramic between two parallel facing electrodes.
    One side of electrode is movable (can be rotated) so that a capacitance can be changed by adjusting the overlap
    electrode area between the movable and the fixed electrode.
    According to this process, a capacitance value can be changed linearly depending on the rotation angle of a movable electrode.
    Murata trimmer capacitor is also using above the Principle 1 and has more than 50% market share in the world.

    Common mode chokes, line bypass capacitors, and across-the-line capacitors are generally used as AC line EMI suppression filters. 
    Common mode chokes are the most important in suppressing common mode noise. The choice of common mode choke therefore has a great impact on the overall filter performance. Murata provides two types of common mode chokes: standard and high-frequency types. The hybrid choke coil is a high-performance EMI suppression device that can suppress both common mode noise and differential mode noise at the same time. It is effective in AC power supplies with active devices for regulating higher harmonic current, which tends to emit relatively high levels of differential mode noise.

In addition, the robust sensing element design with over damped frequency response enables excellent performance even in harsh and vibrating environments. The measuring direction is parallel or perpendicular to the mounting plane. The ASIC includes an on-chip EEPROM memory with the calibration coefficients for unit interchangeability. Murata accelerometers include enhanced failure detection: digitally activated self-test, calibration memory parity or check sum check and continuous connection failure detection. The products are intended for horizontal or vertical measurements.The zero point temperature dependence is less than 1mg/°C.

    Ionizers Using unique high-voltage technology and structural design, this ionizer achieves smaller size and higher efficiency than any conventional ionizers. According to a survey conducted by Murata, it also generates the greatest number of ions in the industry. The module comprises an ion generator connected to a drive power supply, allowing easy incorporation inside equipment. Without changing the amount of ions, the generation of ozone can be controlled to optimum levels for specific applications.

    The unique structure that employs an LTCC* board as an ozone generator enables this ozonizer module to generate ozone efficiently in the right quantities. The generator section is among the smallest creeping discharge types in the industry (according to a survey conducted by Murata).

    * LTCC (low temperature co-fired ceramics): 
    Unlike conventional ceramics that is fired at high temperatures above 1,500°C, LTCC is fired at low temperatures below 1,000°C. This makes it possible to use internal wiring made of silver and copper, conductors with low electrical resistance.

    Process development is designing the best manner of manufacture in order to concretely manifest the designed functions, and it plays an important role in the miniaturization, slimming down, and high functionality of electronic components. For example, the smallest monolithic ceramic capacitor in the world (0.25 x 0.125 mm) that we developed was realized using technology that Murata has accumulated for laminating and multi-layering of ceramic sheets in micron units. Our thin film and ultra-fine processing technology are also utilized in surface acoustic wave devices and MEMS application sensors.

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has expanded EDLC DMF series lineup, with addition of 1,000mF model with low ESR.


Background Electrical Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs), with longer life time than batteries are energy storage devices with higher capacitance than what is typically found in conventional capacitor technology such as ceramic capacitors or electrolytic capacitors. 
Murata's EDLC DMF series, featuring low ESR and the highest levels of power density throughout the industry, offer high-pwoer charging and discharging. Used as an auxiliary power supply for peak power assist or backup function, EDLCs contribute to downsize battery or power supply, reduce energy loss, or add new function which requires high power without changing power supply. 
The 1000mF model of DMF series provides longer peak power assist or backup function.

Applications
Peak power assist 
Murata's EDLC can assist peak power for applications which require momentary peak power. It enables to downsize various power supplies. In addition, when using EDLC with battery or power supply which has limited power, high power function can be added to application or application quality can be improved.

Smart gas & water meter (wireless communication, valve operation), LED flash, IR sensor, intermittent operation of motor applications, high power wireless communication (handy terminal, tracking devices, etc.) 

Load leveling 
When combining EDLC with USB devices having limited supply or batteries having large load change, their load change can be leveled.  
Additionally, the use of EDLCs contribute to improved operation stability and quality performance of applications.

Sound stability of audio instruments, operation stability of communication device, etc.

Backup 
Can be used for high power wireless communication, memory, or system backup

Backup power supply for PLC, POS, SSD, etc.
