NEW YORK, Nov. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of October 30, 2015, short interest in 2,311 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 8,219,164,431 shares compared with 8,499,493,606  shares in 2,306 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of October 15, 2015. The end-of-October short interest represents 4.91 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.28 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 732 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 827,721,639 shares at the end of the settlement date of October 30, 2015 compared with 857,150,100 shares in 728 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 5.63 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 4.98.

In summary, short interest in all 3,043 Nasdaq® securities totaled 9,046,886,070 shares at the October 30, 2015 settlement date, compared with 3,034 issues and 9,356,643,706 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.97 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.34 days for the previous reporting period.
