NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of February 13, 2015, short interest in 2,266 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,574,745,109 shares compared with 7,471,141,201 shares in 2,264 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of January 30, 2015. The Mid-February short interest represents 3.94 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.20 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 653 securities on The NASDAQ Capital MarketSM totaled 681,766,244 shares at the end of the settlement date of February 13, 2015 compared with 697,908,877 shares in 653 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.76 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 5.14.

In summary, short interest in all 2,919 NASDAQ® securities totaled 8,256,511,353 shares at the February 13, 2015 settlement date, compared with 2,917 issues and 8,169,050,078 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.00 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.27 days for the previous reporting period.
