USE #NGRIDBRUINS TO WIN PLAYOFF TICKETS FROM THE BOSTON BRUINS AND NATIONAL GRID Twitter, Facebook, Instagram Contest Runs Throughout 2014 NHL Playoffs

April 18, 2014 - Want to be there in person when the Boston Bruins make another run at the Stanley Cup this year? National Grid is offering lucky fans the chance to win two loge tickets to a Bruins home playoff game. To enter, simply post a photo of your favorite place to watch the Bruins - your comfort zone - along with the hashtag #NGridBruins to your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram account. In addition to giving you a chance to win, National Grid will suggest ways for contest entrants to save energy and money in their comfort zones through energy efficiency techniques.

"Massachusetts is passionate about its sports, and the thousands of National Grid employees who live and work in the Commonwealth will be cheering for the Bruins as loudly as anyone," said Marcy Reed, president of National Grid in Massachusetts. "That's why it's so exciting for us to be able to provide fans with a more engaging playoff experience than ever this year, both for the lucky contest winners who get to attend a game and, for everyone else, tips to save money and energy while watching at home."

A selection of #NGridBruins photos will appear on the Bruins' scoreboard, Garden HDX, during home playoff games. Even before National Grid offers you energy efficiency recommendations for your comfort zone, you can try these tips to make your home even more comfortable:

  • Buy dimmable CFL or LED light bulbs - National Grid offers these energy-savers at discounted prices. Wall sconces or recessed lighting around the perimeter of your TV room make for ideal hockey-viewing.
  • Save up to $15 off the price of an advanced power strip (APS). When you turn off your TV post-game, an APS will automatically cut power to your sound system, DVD player, and gaming console.
  • Keep game-time snacks perfectly chilled with an ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerator, and save up to $75 with a rebate from National Grid.
  • Fend off distracting allergies with an ENERGY STAR® certified room air cleaner -a portable electric appliance that removes dust and pollen from indoor air.
  • Rebates are available for high-efficiency central air conditioning systems, water heaters, gas boilers, and gas furnaces. Keep your home at a comfortable temperature and save money on your gas and electric costs.
  • Air leaks and poor insulation will make your house chilly in the winter and too hot in the summer. Schedule a no-cost home energy assessment with National Grid today, and you may qualify for free air sealing and a rebate on insulation.
  • Use a programmable thermostat to set temperatures based on the times you are typically away from home or asleep. Avoid any discomfort by programming temperatures to automatically return to normal before you wake or return home.
  • Recycle that old fridge or freezer you've been meaning to get rid of, and National Grid will reward you with a cool $50.
