Hines, which has its U.S. headquarters in Houston, has released its inaugural sustainability report to review the real estate firm's environmental, social and governance performance.

As of Dec. 31, Hines had 403 green-certified buildings worldwide, including 177 Energy Star-labeled buildings and 189 LEED-certified or -registered assets, Hines said in its July 11 statement. In 2011, 20 Hines properties received LEED certifications, including two Platinum and two Gold certifications in Houston, according to the report.

"Our sustainability program is constantly evolving," Hines President and CEO Jeff Hines said in the July 11 statement.
