NCR TouchPort™70 common-use software, kiosk and services solution will offer shared self-service check-in for SkyTeam Alliance passengers

("China Southern") is expanding the convenience of self-service check-in for its passengers with the addition of 28 common-use kiosks from (NYSE: NCR). China Southern has deployed 15 kiosks at the Beijing Capital Airport and airports in Guiyang, Zhuhai and Shantou in servicing domestic flight passengers.  The rest will be deployed at Guangzhou Baiyun International airport in servicing China Southern's passengers as well as offering shared self-service check-in for passengers from member airlines.

NCR has been China Southern's primary supplier of check-in kiosks, which now total 130, since the carrier's first purchase two years ago.  The self-service solution allows passengers to check-in, access flight information, register for membership, scan and print boarding passes, and check mileage.  It includes the NCR TouchPort 70 kiosk, common-use platform software that allows applications from other SkyTeam Alliance member airlines to run concurrently on a single self-service device, and onsite support services to ensure maximum availability.

"NCR is delighted to expand our relationship with China Southern, which is leading this fast-growing industry by investing in self-service as a means to improve the passenger experience and gain a competitive edge." 

Expanding self-service check-in has become one of the key strategies of China Southern in improving its service efficiency and quality. About 12 percent of China Southern's passengers have used the kiosks and the rate is still on the rise. 

The NCR TouchPort 70 kiosk comes with a faster processing speed, which can improve efficiency by reducing passengers' transaction time. It can also read different barcodes from mobile devices, drivers' licenses and electronic passports, which gives the potential for China Southern to develop paperless self-service check-in in the future.

NCR is the leader in mobile check-in, issuing more than 1.6 million mobile boarding passes per month, as well as the industry leader in Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) airline kiosks.
