Tokyo and Las Vegas, May 9, 2012 - NEC Corporation (TSE:
6701) announced today that NEC Corporation of America (NEC)
has been named Best of Interop 2012 Winner, and its
ProgrammableFlow Controller 2.0 has won both the Grand
Prize and the Management, Monitoring & Testing category, as
determined by a distinguished panel of judges at Interop
Las Vegas, happening through May 10 at the Mandalay Bay
Convention Center.
"The Best of Interop Awards presents leading edge
technologies of the outstanding IT vendors in the
industry," said Art Wittmann, Vice President and
Director, InformationWeek Reports. "NEC and each
of the category winners represent a true commitment to
innovation in business technology and deserve recognition
for helping build and strengthen today's IT
marketplace."
The ProgrammableFlow Controller 2.0 gives customers the
ability to design, deploy, monitor and manage secure,
multitenant networks from a single point of control. The
updated controller builds upon the OpenFlow 1.0 standard to
provide more control of network resources, while
maintaining interoperability with other OpenFlow compliant
equipment.
"Winning the Best of Interop award further validates
the leading role of ProgrammableFlow in the software
defined networking revolution," said Mitsuhiro
Murooka, Vice President, NEC Enterprise Technologies IT.
"We are honored that the distinguished panel of judges
at Interop have recognized us for this work, which
culminates in the ProgrammableFlow product suite."
Interop Best of Show recognizes technology companies and
products that have made significant technological
advancements in nine key areas. The winners in each
category represent products that have the most significant
technical impact on their segment, and are helping to move
business technology forward, as deemed by a panel of expert
judges.
"The business value of software defined networking
(SDN) was recognized early on as NEC worked with teams at
Stanford University on the development of the OpenFlow
protocol," said Don Clark, director of business
development, NEC Enterprise Technologies IT. "The NEC
ProgrammableFlow Controller establishes a new category of
network management by integrating best-in-class monitoring
capabilities with network configuration
management."
With NEC's multitenant network virtualization
technology, organizations can programmatically manage the
way traffic flows across the network, optimizing use of
existing network resources and the appliances, servers, and
storage connecting to the network, leading to service
agility and higher staff productivity.
The ProgrammableFlow Controller and more can be seen on
exhibit at Interop this week in NEC booth 815.
