U.K. retailer Tesco has partnered with Nedap to supply RFID readers for its large-scale technology deployment across F&F clothing in 550 stores throughout the United Kingdom.

Following a successful tender process including a pilot phase, Nedap was selected to supply the fixed RFID readers for goods receiving and tracking the in-store merchandise movements.

Merchandise availability
RFID gives F&F the needed visibility over its inventory to minimize the traditional in-store stock accuracy challenges and improve the on-shelf availability of its merchandise. Once the roll-out is complete, F&F will use RFID technology to continually keep the system stock accurately reflecting the physical stock, in order to trigger repeat orders at the right point and avoid out of stocks. The RFID solution is all geared towards enhancing the shopping experience for F&F customers.

Richard Collins, COO at F&F: "We have been enthused by Nedap's passion and drive which is evident in the implementation of the RFID technology. Our shared values and work ethic have created a partnership of innovative solutions within our stores. Having accurate stock information is a driver for our whole business. The RFID partnership with Nedap allows us to replenish stock from the Distribution Centre more efficiently and accurately, making more garment sizes available to customers and improving their overall in-store experience."

Readers for in-store RFID applications
Nedap's floor-mounted !D Gate RFID readers are installed in the back of house in the goods receiving area and between the stock room and the sales floor, to reliably monitor incoming goods and stock room to sales floor item level movements.

"Our main driver is making it simple for retailers to always have the right products available for their customers," says Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail. "We are excited to partner with F&F and have been impressed with the leadership and management of the RFID program and their journey to building a new platform. This will enable them to achieve competitive advantage, and we are committed to a successful RFID deployment that enables F&F to quickly benefit fully from this technology."

Nedap's readers meet the needs of global retail organizations through its GS1's EPC Gen2 v2 and worldwide frequency regulation support. The selected solution features unique online device management for remote support and firmware updates, which provides a reliant post installation system.
