Germany / Belgium, May 29, 2018 - The Nemetschek Group, one of the largest software providers for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, today announced the release of SCIA Engineer 18, the latest version of the structural analysis and design software, developed by its brand SCIA. The innovative solution is helping structural engineers to use an advanced concrete material in their designs.

'With SCIA Engineer 2018, SCIA extends the Nemetschek Group's world leadership in concrete design', says Sean Flaherty, chief strategy officer of the Nemetschek Group. The new release supports the design and calculation of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) and is the first of its kind available in the market. 'The solution again demonstrates the innovative strength of the Nemetschek Group,' continues Sean Flaherty. 'Our innovation power is a result of the unique structure of the group: All brands have the flexibility to innovate in an entrepreneurial way and strongly focus on their niches'.

Cyril Heck, chief product and marketing officer of SCIA, comments: 'We have always incorporated the input of our users in developing SCIA Engineer. In this release, we engaged the users even more. Users participating in the recently launched 'SCIA Insider' program reviewed and tested some of the new usability functionalities. They helped us shape the software into the direction that truly fits the needs of the users. I am also proud of the co-creation with Bekaert, a world market and technology leader in steel wire transformation and coating technologies. It has enabled us to deliver an innovative, first of its kind, solution for SFRC, allowing users to realize the benefit of using this material in their designs.' Reinforcing with steel fibers results in concrete that is much more durable due to greater flexing strength and impact resistance compared to typical reinforced concrete.

SCIA Engineer 18 incorporates significant enhancements and functionalities that enable structural engineers to streamline their workflows, design with advanced materials and work more effectively in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. The solution expands the array of possibilities for economical and clearly documented designs for new materials and floor systems, including advanced optimization of composite floors, as well as extended capabilities of punching shear design, and support of add-ons for structural glass and foundation design.

The Nemetschek Group has a strong position in structural engineering software, with several market leading brands in its portfolio: SCIA (analysis and design), Frilo (analysis and design), Allplan (Structural Modeling), Precast (fabrication and detailing), SDS/2 (detailing) and the recently acquired US-based RISA (analysis and design).
