Munich, April 19, 2018 - he Nemetschek Group, one of the largest software provider for the AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) is strengthening its infrastructure portfolio. The company today announced the availability of Allplan Bridge, a tool for the parametric modeling of bridges.

'Currently most infrastructure projects are still developed in 2D. The digital approach Building Information Modeling (BIM) is legally required for large projects and the best choice for any building process. But for some tasks, such as bridge construction, there was no BIM-enabled software available on the market', says Sean Flaherty, Chief Strategy Officer of the Nemetschek Group.

With this release, the Nemetschek Group is taking an important step towards expanding its position in the infrastructure sector. 'Bridge engineering is the most demanding of structural engineering tasks and Allplan Bridge provides an intuitive BIM solution that allows for a fully model-based approach to the design of these complex structures. We are using our BIM leadership to help structural engineers realize their bridge projects much quicker, easier and much more accurate', explains Sean Flaherty.

A unique BIM solution

Allplan Bridge supports all planning phases, from the concept to the final design. The parametric 3D model offers a high usability and flexibility, significantly saving time. The software was developed by the proven bridge experts at Allplan Infrastructure in Graz. Even complex geometries with a high degree of detail can be easily assessed with the tailored solution. The model description considers the road layout, bridge alignment and required cross-sections, making model configuration quick and efficient.

For every bridge project, design changes are more than common. So far, the incorporation of the resulting model changes was sometimes very time consuming. In the worst case, the model had to be completely rebuilt. With Allplan Bridge, design changes are no longer a challenge. Due to the model described with parameters, changes are only made in one place, all linked elements are adjusted automatically.

A strong portfolio for the AEC industry

Allplan is part of the Nemetschek Group. The strategic holding company offers a large software portfolio focused on optimizing the process of designing, constructing and managing buildings and infrastructure projects such as bridges and tunnels as well as true-to-life visualization. With Allplan Bridge, the company is broadening its infrastructure offering, enabling bridge construction engineers to work with BIM.
