GUAM, 13 Feb 2017:

Showing its strong commitment to serving Guam and Saipan, APL today announced the conversion of its Guam office from a third party agency to an APL owned and managed office. This follows APL's introduction of a second US flagged ship, the APL Saipan, to its Guam Saipan Express (GSX) service. Together with its US flagged sister ship, the APL Guam, the two GSX service ships now provide weekly service to Guam and Saipan, connecting Guam and Saipan with the US Mainland and the world.

'After a year of steady growth, we doubled our investment and commitment to Guam by adding a second ship to our GSX service and are now furthering our commitment to Guam by converting our office to one that is fully APL owned and staffed. We have doubled the size of our team here in the last couple of months and are all very eager to continue to grow our market presence in Guam and Saipan,' said John Selleck, APL General Manager, Guam-Micronesia.

The transition from agency to an APL office is expected to complete in April 2017. Led by John Selleck, the APL office will be supported by a local team of sales, customer and account servicing representatives as well as operations and technical experts.

'APL has gathered the best team of shipping industry veterans and bright young talents on the island and we are all proud to be helping improve lives here and in Saipan by offering local businesses and consumers more competitive and diverse shipping options,' added John. 'We all look forward to deepening APL's roots in the community in the years to come.'
