There's every chance that, by the time you read this, it's a frozen nightmare outside.

A winter storm warning for northern Erie County, in effect until 10 a.m. on Saturday as of press time, is expected to cause nothing but havoc this weekend, leaving freezing rain and several inches of snow in its wake.

Maybe we'll luck out - maybe the winds end up bringing only cold temperatures or a couple inches of fluffy, perfectly acceptable snow. But every experience so far this season makes me seriously doubt that.

It's much more likely that tree branches will be coated in ice, roads and walkways will be almost too slick to traverse, and the wind chill will make people want to curl up under the covers and wait for June.

Best to avoid the whole thing altogether, and spend some quality time with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime instead.

So pour yourself a mug of hot cocoa, make a big bowl of popcorn and settle in for a full weekend of bingeing. Here are a few suggestions:

"Victoria": Before the second season premieres stateside on Sunday - 9 p.m. on WQLN and other PBS stations - go back to the first season, when a young, newly-crowned Queen Victoria (Jenna Coleman) is thrown headlong into a world of traditions, politics and 19th-century teenage angst (after all, she was only 18 when she ascended to the throne). The first eight episodes, available on Amazon Prime, will appeal to history buffs or Anglophiles, of course, but any fan of drama with a soft spot for romance won't want to miss it, either.

'90s marathon: Get those stonewash jeans, Doc Martens boots and scrunchies out of the closet. (Seriously? Why do you still have those?) Hulu has enough 1990s nostalgia to fill the next several weekends - at least. Back in 2017, the streaming service added "Full House," "Step By Step," "Family Matters," "Home Improvement," "Perfect Strangers," "Dinosaurs," "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" and more to its extensive catalog. Soon you'll be longing for those good ol' days of Beanie Babies, bleached hair and pagers.

Double the sci-fi: Plunge into the dark side of technology, psychology and science with not one, but two anthology series. The fourth season of Netflix's acclaimed "Black Mirror" came out just before the new year, offering more bingeable episodes exploring society's dependence on technology. And now streaming on Amazon Prime is the new "Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams," another sci-fi anthology series with 10 stand-alone episodes guest starring Anna Paquin, Terrence Howard, Greg Kinnear, Bryan Cranston, Juno Temple and more.
