Arbor Networks Inc., the security division of NETSCOUT (NASDAQ: NTCT), today announced that leading global industry analyst firm Ovum has published a research note on Arbor SP Insight, a new software-based extension to its Arbor Networks SP platform (Arbor SP) that dramatically expands and enhances network operators’ traffic analytics and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack forensics capabilities.

The majority of the world’s internet service providers, along with data center and large network operators, rely on Arbor Networks’ SP platform for network-wide visibility, DDoS detection, forensics, traffic engineering, advanced peering and transit analysis. Arbor SP helps these customers maintain peak service performance and availability, protect their infrastructure, intelligently expand their network capacity, understand their operational costs and uncover new service opportunities. With the launch of Arbor SP Insight, operators can further enhance their network visibility and make more informed operational, security and business decisions faster than ever before.

“Arbor SP users have been our core customer base for over 15 years. We understand their challenges and have designed SP Insight to empower them to make more informed decisions faster. For example, SP Insight’s network context and high fidelity record of traffic enables security analysts to quickly deconstruct and understand past attacks, targets and indicators, allowing them to better prepare for future events,” said Talbot Hack, Arbor Networks Director of Product Management for DDoS & ISP Network Visibility.

Ovum: Arbor Networks adds big data analytics to the SP portfolio
According to Ovum, Arbor SP Insight “will provide Arbor users with the big data and analytical capabilities needed to work more effectively with their network and threat data. The data lake side of the SP Insight operation will add long-term storage of flow data and allow multi-dimensional, visual analysis across the data management lifecycle. It will provide the capacity to store raw data for as long as needed and support both real-time and historical analysis. The complete solution will be delivered using a common central console approach for SP and SP Insight, and will offer the single-pane-of-glass methodology that enterprise organizations require.”
