New Jersey Resources : Empowers Future Leaders With Program For Early Career Women

Wall, N.J. - As a part of its commitment to leadership development, New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR) celebrated the achievement of 21 employees from throughout the company, as they completed a six-month intensive Leadership Development for Early Career Women program. Offered through the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations Center for Women and Work, the training provided information, insights and networks to help future women leaders achieve professional success.

'Today's millennial women are set to take on unparalleled leadership positions, so it's essential we help develop their executive presence,' said Rhonda Figueroa, corporate diversity officer at New Jersey Resources. 'We are investing in their future with the goal of making a real-life difference by encouraging and empowering women to reach their full potential, while driving our efforts to ensure an inclusive environment.'

The inaugural program was led by Dr. Terri Boyer, executive director of the Rutgers Center for Women and Work. Boyer coached the women through numerous topics - including leadership development and career branding, implicit bias and cultural competency, work-life issues and social networks, among others - to enhance their leadership skills and assist with personal goals for advancement. Additionally, program participants worked with peer coaching groups to develop and present personalized plans with actionable items to help map out potential pathways to career advancement.

The culmination of the program was a Capstone session where women leaders from NJR's board of directors and executive management team shared their stories, experience and advice. Mariellen Dugan, chief operating officer of New Jersey Natural Gas, NJR's natural gas subsidiary, reminded the program graduates, 'Never approach your job from a perspective of a woman. You are a person first and quality always comes through.'
