HBO Renews as Sole Presenting Sponsor of The New York Times Film Club

NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2016 - The New York Times and the San Francisco Film Society announce today a new collaboration, which includes the expansion of The New York Times Film Club to the San Francisco market. As part of The New York Times's new lead sponsorship of the San Francisco Film Society, monthly film offerings for New York Times Film Club members in the Bay Area will be specially curated by the San Francisco Film Society.

The San Francisco Film Society will curate one monthly film for New York Times Film Club members from among its monthly offerings. Bay Area Film Club members will enjoy complimentary access to these special films, along with early access to other select programs from the San Francisco Film Society.

The first New York Times Film Club and San Francisco Film Society co-production will be a special advance screening of Stephen Hopkins's 'RACE,' from Focus Features, starring Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, Shanice Banton and William Hurt. 'RACE' is based on the true story of Olympic track and field gold medalist, and American icon, Jesse Owens.

San Francisco marks the Film Club's entry into a third national market. It has operated in New York and Los Angeles since 2011.

For the third consecutive year, HBO has renewed its sponsorship of the Film Club as sole presenting sponsor.
