NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The New York Times announced today that Ellen Pollock has been named the new editor of Business Day. Previously, Pollock was the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg Businessweek.

In making the announcement, Dean Baquet, executive editor of The New York Times, said, 'Ellen is an accomplished editor with the experience and talent needed to broaden our already ambitious business coverage. Throughout her career at The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, Ellen not only inspired reporters, but challenged her competitors - especially here at The Times. We're thrilled to bring her aboard.'

In 2007, Pollock joined Businessweek as executive editor. In 2016, Bloomberg Businessweek won a National Magazine award for best single-topic issue and in 2012, for general excellence. The magazine was a finalist in three categories in 2017.

Before joining Businessweek, Pollock spent 18 years at The Wall Street Journal. As a reporter she covered topics ranging from corporate fraud, shareholder activism and the Whitewater scandal to Michael Jackson, and the aversion to eating rabbit in America. As an editor she worked on stories that won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting and the 2005 Pulitzer for beat reporting. Her last role at The Wall Street Journal was Deputy Page One Editor.

Pollock is the author of 'The Pretender: How Martin Frankel Fooled the Financial World and Led the Feds on One of the Most Publicized Manhunts in History.'

She lives in New York City with her husband, Barry Meier, and their daughter Lily. Meier is a reporter at The New York Times and a member of the team that won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting.
