Expanded Role Includes Luxury, Fashion and Home Clusters in Addition to Corporate and Education

NEW YORK, February 3, 2016 -The New York Times (NYTimes.com) today announced that Lisa Ryan Howard is joining the Company as senior vice president, advertising, rounding out the Company's integrated advertising leadership team. In this capacity, Ms. Howard will oversee an expansive portfolio of territories and categories including luxury, fashion, watch/jewelry, retail, home, corporate and education.

In making the announcement, Meredith Kopit Levien, executive vice president, chief revenue officer, The New York Times Company, said, 'We are more than two years into a wholesale transformation of the advertising business at The Times. Lisa's leadership skills, long track record of experience in luxury and lifestyle businesses and digital acumen make her the optimal executive to help us take our work and our team to the next level.'

Ms. Howard joins The Times following leadership roles at WebMD and Yahoo! where she served as executive vice president, chief of consumer strategy and business lead, respectively. Previously, she served as publisher of Billboard where she oversaw its magazine, online, licensing, events and sponsorship businesses and played a key role in relaunching the Billboard Music Awards as well as the launch of new apps, video programming and strategic partnerships.

Ms. Howard spent 14 years at Condé Nast from 1996 - 2010 where she held a variety of leadership roles including senior vice president, chief revenue officer of Fairchild Fashion Group; vice president, Interactive, Condé Nast Media Group; vice president, publisher of Style.com; and executive director of corporate sales.

Ms. Levien and Ms. Howard expect to appoint a vice president and publisher of T: The New York Times Style Magazine in short order. The new VP and publisher will oversee the luxury cluster and work closely with T editor in chief, Deborah Needleman.

Ms. Howard's official start date is Feb. 22.
