NEWELL RUBBERMAID : Newell Rubbermaid's Vise-Grip Brand Launches Locking Pliers With Strongest Grip Ever

09/30/2010 | 08:05am US/Eastern

ATLANTA, Sept. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE: NWL) today announced the latest innovation from its trusted Irwin® Vise-Grip® brand. Traditional locking pliers are prone to slipping unless a significant amount of pressure is applied. Irwin Vise-Grip Curved Jaw (CR) Locking Pliers feature a unique self-energizing lower jaw that delivers three times more gripping power than traditional locking pliers, with absolutely no slipping or stripping.

"Vise-Grip Curved Jaw Locking Pliers were designed with professional tradespeople in mind to better meet their jobsite needs by offering improved performance in two key areas - torque and grip," said Curt Rahilly, Vice President of Marketing for Newell Rubbermaid's Construction Tools & Accessories global business unit. "The Vise-Grip CR range provides improved torquing power for superior tightening, clamping, twisting and turning in the types of environments tradespeople encounter everyday."

The slotted geometry of the new 'self-energizing' Vise-Grip CR locking pliers exponentially increases torque for more secure clamping, and while traditional locking pliers only allow for a couple of contact points on a work piece, which can result in the tool slipping or failing to loosen a bolt, Vise-Grip CR establishes multiple contact points, guaranteeing a significantly tighter grip. As a result, the new CR range is especially well-suited for performing in greasy work environments and for maneuvering in tight spaces where a worker cannot easily get two hands on a tool. Anti-pinch, non-slip ProTouch(TM) Grips offer increased comfort and leverage while reducing vibrations and hand fatigue, also important factors impacting performance on the jobsite.

Irwin Vise-Grip CR Locking Pliers are backed by the brand's legendary lifetime guarantee. They are available in 5-inch, 7-inch, and 10-inch models. The full range of Vise-Grip locking pliers, including Irwin Vise-Grip CR Fast Release and Original locking tools, can be found at home centers, hardware stores and industrial tool distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada. The suggested retail price for the CR line is $11.99 for the 5-inch, $12.99 for the 7-inch and $13.99 for the 10-inch model.
