• Nexans, a leading expert in the cable industry, shares its expertise with industry leaders in Latin America at its inaugural Cable Forum in Panama
  • This year's event gathers over 120 experts to discuss market trends and the latest cabling innovations in the Railway Networks, Building, Energy Networks and Renewable Energy industries.

Paris, June 27, 2017 - Today Nexans is hosting its Cable Forum in Panama, bringing together industry and company leaders to discuss trends and innovations in the cable industry. Together with its clients, Nexans demonstrates how the latest innovations in cable technologies can solve the hardest challenges in railway networks, buildings, energy networks as well as wind and solar energy sectors.

With the growth of the world's population, the need for energy becomes ever stronger. By 2040, energy consumption is expected to increase by over 40%, placing cabling at the core of global life quality and business performance across all industries. Nexans' flagship event, held in Central America for the first time, is aimed at providing participants with a platform to discuss global and regional cabling market challenges and to showcase real-world solutions and best practices.

Cabling solutions to empower the economic growth of Latin America

As the Latin American economy returns to growth, all industries are concerned by the challenge of energy needed to further fuel the economy. For instance, the regional building market is expected to grow 4 times by 2021 while electricity consumption in Latin America is likely to almost triple by 2050.

'Latin America is a region with enormous potential', said Rose-Marie Vial, Business Development Manager - Central America and Caribbean countries at Nexans. 'The growth of the region will inevitably depend on the development of the existing infrastructures needed to support the evolution of all industries. It is important that the regional governments and industry players have a long-term vision on their sectors and develop their businesses based on the global best practices and renowned technology solutions'.

Today, Nexans Cable Forum gathers regional professionals for a series of workshops in four key industries highlighting real-life projects with client testimonials. These sessions feature Nexans customers and experts from across the globe discussing the unique cabling needs for each segment as well as market perspectives, challenges and solutions:

  • Building - Nexans experts are going to review the latest cabling solutions for residential, industrial and public buildings, including local area networks, which address the evolution of fire-safety standards.
  • Railway Network - Topics to be examined include reliable and safe railway networks and urban transit, cable maintenance in the context of humid environments, enhanced fire safety as well as TCO (total cost of ownership) reduction and cable handling and installation best practices.
  • Energy Networks - Nexans speakers are going to discuss power network challenges in Latin America and do an overview of complete solutions and services for land, aerial and submarine networks, including cabling solutions for power distribution up to 36 kV and for power transmission up to to 600 kV.
  • Wind and Solar Energy - Renewable subjects that are to be reviewed during the workshop include integrated cable solutions for wind and solar energy projects and added-value services.

'As the demand for cables and cabling solutions grows throughout the Americas, so does the need to keep our fingers on the pulse of the local marketplace. Nexans' Cable Forum in Panama enables us and our customers to come face-to-face promoting a dialogue about the key issues facing the building, railway, energy and renewables industries in the region,' said Steven Vermeulen, Executive Vice President Americas, Nexans.
