Actively developing your own career can send you down new paths with new potential - and it can propel our company toward success.

Career development is top-of-mind for HR & CS employees - in a recent survey, they flagged it as an area needing improvement. To address that need, HR & CS hosted a job fair on April 10 to help employees better understand the roles available to them and encourage them to think about future opportunities within the department.

The fair attracted dozens of attendees who visited stations set up by each functional group, including the UK, Long Lake and Sundance. Attendees were able to view presentations, check out organizational charts and get in-depth information from colleagues about their jobs and career paths in their departments.

"Now I can see what it would be like to work in different roles," says Barb Wilson, Analyst - Global Service and Relocations, HR Services. "I'm intrigued by a couple of new areas I might never have considered before."

Barb was not alone in her enthusiasm for the job fair. "It was great to see such a positive reaction from everyone," says Quinn Wilson, Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services. "Based on the interest from our HR & CS employees, we'll do this type of thing again. It's been a great way for people to get to know each other, put names to faces and get a sense of other opportunities."

Now that employees have a sense of the other opportunities, their next step is to submit an application for a job of interest, a project or a mentor they would like to connect with by May 16. Then, the HR & CS leadership team will work with those employees in the coming months to help them achieve their career development goals.
