The Scott platform is the UK's longest established asset.

Nexen UK passed a major milestone at the end of April when its combined assets officially produced one billion barrels of oil (gross).

The UK's longest established asset, the Scott platform, was the major contributor having produced almost 60% of the total since Hess began operations back in September, 1993.

"This is a significant milestone that's been achieved through our continual focus on safe, reliable operations," said Archie Kennedy UK Managing Director. "Our effort to improve production performance continues, as evidenced by the recent introduction of our central asset support team, our enhanced offshore training matrix and new superintendent roles."

In the last three years the UK has also witnessed a crucial improvement in the reduction of reportable hydrocarbon releases bringing these down from 17 in 2010 to just three in 2012. "Clearly this is an area we will continue to be vigilant on," commented Archie.

Set to produce in the region of 100,000 boe/d (barrels of oil equivalent per day) in 2013, the UK now has its sights firmly set on our next milestone: to safely produce one billion barrels of oil net to Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd.

"Reaching this milestone was a team effort, involving both our onshore and offshore staff, contractors, partners and suppliers," said Archie."With everyone's continued commitment I'm confident of meeting our 2013 targets and building Nexen's reputation across industry as a top quartile operator".
