Broadcast Veteran with Career Record of News and Programming Excellence

and Local Revenue Growth to Lead WOI-TV and Associated Digital Operations


DES MOINES, Iowa and IRVING, Texas (July 21, 2014) - Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST) announced today that Jon Skorburg has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of WOI-TV (ABC) and the station's associated digital operations, including community web portal WeAreIowa.com, serving the Des Moines, Iowa DMA. Since 2011, Mr. Skorburg has served as Vice President / General Manager of Nexstar's WQRF-TV (FOX) and, through an operating agreement, WTVO (ABC/MNTV) in Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Skorburg's appointment is effective immediately, and he will report to Brian Jones, Co-Chief Operating Officer of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Jon Skorburg has over three decades of broadcasting experience in Midwestern and Southwestern markets including Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas. During his tenure at WQRF and WTVO, Mr. Skorburg was responsible for Nexstar's Midwest traffic and accounting hubs that serve 19 stations across the region. Prior to joining Nexstar, Mr. Skorburg was the President and CEO of WNWO-TV (NBC) in Toledo, OH, where he consistently exceeded operating and economic goals as he drove increased viewership growth and revenues. Before being promoted to his position at WNWO, Mr. Skorburg served as the Station Manager of WHOI-TV ('06-'07) in Peoria, IL, and WREX-TV ('94-'06) in Rockford, IL, where he developed and led highly effective teams and implemented sales, marketing and new media initiatives that resulted in increased market share and profitability at both stations.

Mr. Skorburg is a 1982 graduate of University of Missouri at Columbia where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. Jon currently serves as Board Chair of The Rockford Literacy Council, as well as on the boards of the Rockford Area Economic Development Commission and the Workforce Investment Board. He was also former Board Chair for the Rock River chapter of the American Red Cross. He previously served as a Board member of the MDA of Red River Valley, Rockvale Children's Home, and Toledo Ohio American Red Cross. He also served on the National Advisory Board for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Children's Miracle Network.

Throughout his career Mr. Skorburg has received several awards and accolades including the Addy Award for Commercial Production, Missouri Broadcasters Association Award for Public Service, Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Award for Station Promotion, and the American Red Cross Eagle Award, among others.
