Further stringent regulations on fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions in countries around the world have created increased demand for not only sensors that detect oxygen concentration in exhaust gases but also our various sensors. The trend is especially accelerated in Europe, and also this trend is spreading to emerging countries.
NGK SPARK PLUGS (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (hereafter referred to as NGK SPARK PLUGS (THAILAND)) started full-scale production in 2010 as the production base for automotive sensors in for Asian countries. Together with increased production of various sensors, NGK SPARK PLUGS (THALAND) has just decided to build a new production plant next to the current production plant. Besides zirconia oxygen sensors and temperature sensors that have been produced at the company, we are planning to newly produce wide range oxygen sensors (UEGO).
The construction of the new plant will begin in November 2017. We will start the production as soon as the new plant is completed. The costs of investment required for the construction of the new plant and the enhancement of its production capability will be about 12 billion yen. By the year of 2023, we will double the production capability of zirconia oxygen sensors at NGK SPARK PLUGS (THAILAND) and increase the production capacity of temperature sensors by about 2.5 times, compared to its current capability.
To contribute to environmental friendly societies, we will continue to build and organize our production on a global basis.
