Just in time for summer, all of Lexington’s Parks and Recreation aquatic centers and pools now accept debit/credit cards. Pool patrons may pay admissions and concessions with any major credit card.

“Our aquatic centers and pools are a fun and affordable way to cool off on a hot summer day,” Mayor Jim Gray said. “Now with the option of paying for admission and concession stand snacks with the quick swipe of a credit card, we’re making it easier and more convenient for families to enjoy their experience.”

The City’s Division of Parks & Recreation partnered with Kentucky Interactive, LLC., a subsidiary of NIC, to establish a secure payment system at Lexington’s seven public aquatic facilities. The project included equipping each pool location with new computers and Internet connectivity for credit card processing.

“We continue to strive for customer satisfaction at our aquatic facilities and consider the credit card payment system a major step forward for the citizens of Lexington,” said Brian Rogers, Deputy Director of Enterprise at Parks & Recreation. “We appreciate the support of Kentucky Interactive in helping launch the project.”

Lexington’s annual Poolapalooza event will kick off the aquatic season from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Southland Aquatic Center. “Admission to Poolapalooza is free, and we encourage patrons to try the credit card service at the concession stand with selections from the Better Bites menu,” Rogers added.

The City’s four aquatic centers – Castlewood, Southland, Tates Creek and Woodland – will open Saturday, May 23. Neighborhood pools – Douglass, Shillito and Picadome – open for the season on Saturday, May 30. Check the Parks & Recreation aquatics webpage for information on hours and admission prices.
