On August 22, employees of Nidec Electronics (Thailand), Nidec Precision(Thailand), and Nidec Component Technology (Thailand) jointly planted mangroves on a beach of Samutsongkram Province in Thailand. In this event, 280 people of the three Nidec Group companies' employees and their families planted 1,000 of 50cm-or-so young Mangroves in a designated area.

This plantation in Thailand, held for the eighth time this year as a large-scale social action event, was started in FY2007, and has been held every year since then, except for FY2012, when it had to be cancelled due to the flooding. This event has seen a total of 2,200 people plant 9,110 trees in total so far, and the trees are estimated to have absorbed approximately 132 tons of CO2*.

Based on their conviction that continuous work for global environment conservation is of critical importance, Nidec Electronics (Thailand), Nidec Precision(Thailand), and Nidec Component Technology (Thailand) will contribute to the global environment through sustainable engagement in such activities as energy-saving actions focused on stopping the global warming and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as this plantation and other environmental conservation activities.

The annual CO2 absorption per tree is expected to be zero for the first four years after plantation, and 11kg per year for the fifth year and after.
