'In addition to the kits, we've had great success with our players. Over 65 percent of the minutes played on-pitch were by athletes wearing Nike football boots,' says Hill.

One of those players, Kylian Mbappe burst into global stardom at the age of 19 and was awarded young player of the tournament. Mbappe's goal in the final was emblematic of his strong play. Croatia's Luka Modric was awarded the Golden Ball, for best player of the tournament. Additionally, Nike athlete Thibaut Courtois won 2018's Golden Glove.

Another face of the tournament was England striker and Nike athlete Harry Kane, whose six goals were enough to make him the competition's top scorer and earn him the Golden Boot. Kane's goals contributed to a total of 100 scored by players wearing Nike boots. More goals were scored with Nike Mercurial 360 than any other boot, an impressive 66, a perfect way of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the iconic line.
