Although the shoe's roots are in performance tennis, the All Court's simplicity and durable construction piqued Kennedy's interest. "I like a simpler type of shoe, something that feels worn in the first time I put them on," he says. "I was looking for something fresh and saw the All Courts on NIKEiD. I had never seen them before, but I have always been obsessed with the toe cap so I decided to make a few."

Tennis shoes have, of course, been appropriated for skateboarding before and styles, like the Nike GTS and Challenge Court, have developed a strong following. Kennedy has skated the All Courts almost exclusively over the last few years, garnering a fair amount of attention in them. "I made a couple dudes a bit jealous," Kennedy recalls, remembering the reactions of some of his Nike SB teammates.
