Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha : IPC, MITSUI, NYK LINE & PSA TO JOINTLY DEVELOP NEW CONTAINER TERMINAL IN JAKARTA

PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) ("IPC"), Mitsui & Co, Ltd. ("Mitsui"), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha ("NYK Line") and PSA International Pte Ltd ("PSA") have agreed to jointly participate in the construction and operation of a new container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Indonesia. This new terminal will be developed and operated by the newly established project company PT New Priok Container Terminal One ("NPCT1").

The Republic of Indonesia has in recent years experienced dramatic economic growth accompanied by a rapid increase in container traffic. Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port is the most important and largest port in Indonesia, handling the majority of Indonesia's international container traffic. To support the vibrant trade, there is an immediate need to increase the port capacity and handling capability.

The new terminal will have an annual handling capacity of approximately 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units ("TEU"s) of containers, an overall berth length of 850 metres, and a 16-metre draft upon completion, allowing the terminal to accommodate the advanced mega container vessels plying the oceans today.

NPCT1 will also pursue the efficient reduction of emissions, and energy conservation and environmental protection activities such as a "Green Terminal" by exploring the use of environment ally friendly facilities such as " c old i roning".

Mitsui made an equity participation in the Singapore-based port development and management company Portek International Pte Ltd ("Portek International") in September 2011, and together they have applied Portek International's knowledge and expertise relating to port terminal modernization and efficiency improvement for the development of port terminal projects around the world, especially in emerging countries.

Participation in the construction and operation of the new container terminal at Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port will help Mitsui to benefit from the growth potential of high-growth economies in Southeast Asia and to expand its involvement in logistics infrastructure projects by accumulating knowledge and expertise that can be used in the development and management of projects.

PSA is humbled and honoured to have the opportunity to participate in the design, construction and operation of the New Priok Container Terminal One at Tanjong Priok port - its first project in the Republic of Indonesia. Together with its partners, Mitsui, NYK Line and IPC, PSA will leverage on its global expertise and experience in operating container terminals worldwide and in training skilled port professionals to develop NPCT1 into a world-class facility to support Indonesia's growing economy and facilitate the expanding maritime trade.

The NYK Group will continue its efforts to improve its global container-terminal network and provide better service to customers by taking advantage of the "creative solutions" initiated in the group's new medium-term management plan "More Than Shipping 2018 - Stage 2 Leveraged by Creative Solutions," which runs from April 2014 for five years.
