Tens of thousands of people from across the world will soon gather in our nation's capital to talk about natural gas and its vital role in meeting global energy needs.

And our president and CEO Joe Hamrock will have a voice in the conversation, speaking June 26 on a panel called 'Public Perception: Our Reputation Matters,' with executives from Chevron and large energy developers based in Australia, Malaysia and Oman.

For the first time ever the World Gas Conference, held every three years, will be hosted in a country that is both the world's largest producer and consumer of natural gas. This milestone moment in our nation's energy history is happening because of plentiful domestic supplies of affordable, efficient and environmentally sustainable natural gas. Joe will be on hand to provide the local distribution company perspective.

Since becoming chief executive in July 2015, he has made enhancing the reputation of NiSource and the natural gas industry a top priority. Joe will do more of the same next year as chairman of the American Gas Association, the top industry trade group.

The conference is the largest global natural gas event of its kind. Paris, Buenos Aires and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were among the previous host cities, and next is Daegu, South Korea, in 2021.
