Nissha Group company FIS Inc. is a member of the Japan Breath Alcohol Testing Consortium (J-BAC), Japan's only association of alcohol sensor makers, launched on June 23, 2015.
Alcohol sensors are playing an increasingly important role amid the reinforcement of legislation to prevent traffic accidents stemming from drunk driving, and with motor transport operators required to use an alcohol sensor to conduct breath tests of drivers during roll call.
The J-BAC consists of 17 companies, including FIS, engaged in the manufacturing and sales of alcohol sensors. The consortium aims to enhance the technology, quality, and public awareness of alcohol sensors, thereby raising the makers' status in the industry, and to work with relevant authorities and organizations toward eliminating problems related to alcohol consumption.
FIS gas sensors for checking breath alcohol feature high sensitivity to alcohol as well as to gases as a whole. The small size of the sensors also contributes significantly to smaller sizes of the breath alcohol checker products themselves.
