Noble is partnering with the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research (AIAR) to provide research fellowships for the Institute’s international fellowship program. The AIAR, located in Jerusalem, Israel, and founded in 1900, is the oldest American research centre for ancient Near East studies in the Middle East.
The Noble Group Fellowships for Chinese Students and Scholars, which started in March 2010, is open to Chinese citizens who are doctoral students and post-doctoral candidates, and are either studying, or residing in China and undertaking research in institutions of other countries.
Noble Group Fellowship recipients to-date are Reuben Yat Tin Lee, Cao Jian, Grace Hui Liang, Wu Xin, Xiaoli Ouyang, Bo Zhang, Zhihui Yuan, Xinhui Luo, Shuo Geng, Jiafen Cheng and Zhe Li.
The winners of the 2010-2011 Fellowship, Xiaoli Ouyang and Bo Zhang, share their experiences:
“The Albright experience has substantially expanded my professional network. Residency in the Albright compound for an extended period of time provided a rare opportunity for us fellows to really know each other and learn about each other’s work. Relationships thus built up will be long-lasting."
Xiaoli Quyang, PhD from Harvard University (2009)
“As an Assyriological student I am pleased to find the fellowship programs at the Albright Institute have indeed attracted students from various fields of ancient near eastern studies. During my stay at the Albright, I met Assyriological students who came from Estonia, China, Israel and the United States, as well as quite a few scholars whose studies are intensely related to ancient Mesopotamia or cuneiform documents.”
Bo Zhang, Archaeology Institute, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
