Together with IBM, Nordea will arrange a competitive event called the Nordea Innovation Challenge over the weekend of 28-30 November in Stockholm and Helsinki simultaneously. The purpose is to get inspiration for new digital banking solutions for customers.

The theme for the challenge is "Banking on the Future" with the emphasis on mobile apps and data insight. The participants will work in teams with expertise in coding, data insight and social science and in these two categories develop ideas for either a mobile application or a data insight solution.

The judges will be representatives from Nordea and IBM with guest judges arranged by Apple. The event is open to all, but it is specifically aimed at attracting people from universities and technology start-ups along with creative individuals within the Nordics. In Helsinki the event takes place in Startup Sauna and in Stockholm in SUP46.

-We are happy to see that the use of our mobile services has increased even faster than we had estimated. The change in how our customers chose to do banking leads us to refocus our development efforts and to increase the speed by which we develop. This year the number of mobile bank logins has increased by 50% and the number of transactions through the mobile bank has increased by 200% compared to same period last year. We have already now had more than 200 million transactions during 2014 with 32 million in Finland and 92 million in Sweden, states Christian Bornfeld, the head of Digital Banking in Nordea.

The teams will have access to synthetic banking data and IBM's banking application programming interfaces. People come to this event because they can work on the data and tools that are not usually available. They also get a good opportunity to show their skills and network with each other. The four best solutions will be awarded a prize.http://www.nordeainnovationchallenge.com/.
