Contract for 95-MW wind farm placed by Energia Renewables

Hamburg, 4 May 2015. Nordex SE has received a further order from Northern Irish utility Energia Renewables. Under the contract, Nordex will be supplying and installing 38 N90/2500 turbines as well as the provision of premium service for 15 years for the Meenadreen Extension wind farm.

Nordex will be starting work on installation of the wind farm, which is located in Donegal in North West of Ireland, in March 2016. Located close to the coast, this site offers very good wind speeds. Consequently, Energia has opted for N90/2500 turbines, which are designed for these conditions. The project is to achieve an annual yield of a 255 gigawatts, equivalent to the consumption of some 70 thousand homes.

Meenadreen is Nordex's largest project in Ireland to date. Last year, Nordex installed 8 N90's at "Thornog" wind farm in Northern Ireland for Energia Renewables. Since its establishment in 2002, Nordex Energy Ireland has installed more than 200 turbines in Ireland.

"We are very pleased to contract with Nordex for 38 turbines for our flagship Meenadreen Extension windfarm project," said Peter Baillie, Managing Director Renewables, Energia, "This is a significant step for Energia Renewables in its development of 300MW in the medium term and towards realising Ireland's ambitious renewable targets.
