Quarterly revenues for Ross Stores increased 5.5% YoY to $2.7 billion. Net earnings stood at $243.9 million or $1.15 per diluted share, compared to $234.6 million or $1.07 per diluted share in Q1 FY 2013. Commenting on the results, Vice Chairman and CEO of Ross Stores, Michael Balmuth said, "First quarter earnings per share performed at the high end of our guidance as strict inventory and expense controls offset the impact from unfavorable weather and a more challenging retail environment. Sales trends improved in April with more seasonal Spring weather that coincided with the later Easter shopping period."
