In Craig County, New Castle District Supervisor Jesse Spence won a second term Tuesday and write-in contender Kathi Toelke nabbed the Simmonsville District seat on the board of supervisors.
Spence, a Norfolk Southern Corp. employee and current chair of the county board, was unopposed in his bid for re-election.
Toelke, a farmer who also works seasonally at Joe's Trees, was also the only announced candidate in the Simmonsville District race.
She threw her hat into the ring to succeed Supervisor Martha Murphy - who's retiring after serving two terms - but made the decision too late in the filing period to secure a spot on the ballot.
Craig County also elected its newest school board members when it went to the polls Tuesday.
George Foster, who was appointed to the New Castle District seat in January to replace Darlene Stanley, won a full term.
Gina Smith was elected to the Simmonsville District seat to succeed James Stephens. Both candidates were unopposed in their races.
