Northeast Utilities System : NU Listed Among 100 Best Corporate Citizens

Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) has been named among the 100 Best
Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. NU was the top
ranking electric utility and was ranked 31st overall. It was the second
highest ranking company among all energy-related firms on the 2012 list.
NU's ratings were strongest for its policies supporting philanthropy,
human rights and corporate governance.
"Corporate citizenship is at the heart of Northeast Utilities' identity
as a company and the values it shares with its employees," said NU
President and CEO Tom May. "NU being named among the 100 Best Corporate
Citizens is validation of the many environmental, philanthropic and
energy-related initiatives we've undertaken for a better future for our

Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine unveiled the list Tuesday in a
ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. This is CR Magazine's 13th
annual ranking of companies in the Russell 1000 Index based on an
independent assessment of company policies in areas including
philanthropy, the environment, employee relations, human rights,
corporate governance, finance and philanthropy.
Northeast Utilities servers its customers through its operating company

Gas, Public Service of New Hampshire, Western Massachusetts Electric
