NorthWestern : to Spend $800,000 to Upgrade Ennis-Madison Valley Electric System; Outage Planned for August 8

Butte, Mont. - August 7, 2017 - NorthWestern Energy has scheduled a power outage for the community of Ennis and nearby Madison Valley on August 8, 2017, beginning at 2 a.m. and ending at about 5 a.m.
The outage, which will affect about 3,100 customers, will allow NorthWestern crew to safely make upgrades to the electric system in the area.
The upgrades are intended to minimize the number and duration of outages due to storms and other events and improve the reliability of service to area customers.
The upgrade project will involve rebuilding a substation next to the fairground in Ennis. A substation north of the community will also see significant upgrade work. The project will also system operators to remotely restore power in some instances, potentially reducing the length of outages.
NorthWestern Energy will invest about $800,000 in this project.
A second outage related to the upgrade work will take place in October. The exact timing of that outage will be determined as work progresses.
NorthWestern has worked to notify local officials and community leaders about the outage and the upgrade project.
