NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has been constructing a new heat treatment plant at NTN Noto Corporation in Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and hereby announces that construction has been completed. Construction of the heat treatment plant has established an integrated bearing production system for industrial machinery bearings in the Noto region. This will enable further expansion of business into the future.

1. Aim of constructing the new plant

NTN has been producing industrial machinery bearings in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture since starting its business in 1918. For risk diversification and enhancing large bearing production, NTN established NTN Hakui Corp., NTN Houdatsushimizu Corp., NTN Shika Corp., and NTN Noto Corp., in the Noto region after 2007. As the second industrial machinery bearing production region, NTN produces a wide variety of bearings such as those for use in the industrial machinery aftermarket, as well as large bearings used in wind turbines.

When bearings are manufactured, the manufacturing process is carried out in the order of forging, turning, heat treatment, grinding, and assembly. Until now, after the turning process was completed, products were transported to Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture for heat treatment processing. On this occasion, an integrated production system covering from forging to assembly has been established in the Noto region through the completion of this heat treatment plant in NTN Noto Corp.

In the Medium-term Management Plan 'NTN 100' which started in April 2015, NTN announced the expansion of aftermarket business within its initiative to 'Manage Growth' and has been tackling shortening the lead-time and enhance the lineup of bearing products. The construction will achieve even faster production and a more stable supply system that will accelerate increased sales within the aftermarket business.

2. Features of the new plant

The introduction of new heat treatment technology allows for more compact facilities and enhanced productivity, as well as improved quality. The plant features an environmentally friendly design with many energy-efficient systems.
