Nuance Brings a More Human Conversation to the Connected Car, Wearables, Consumer Health, and Virtual Assistants

LAS VEGAS AND BURLINGTON, Mass. - January 6, 2015 -Nuance Communications, Inc. will be demonstrating how its voice innovations make it possible for people to talk to the next generation of cars, consumer electronics and mobile devices at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This year's event promises to stretch the imagination of what is possible as Nuance and a robust network of partners provide a glimpse into the near future of intelligent voice and conversational interfaces for connected cars, wearables, consumer health, the Internet of Things, and the connected home.

A More Personal Connection to the Connected Car

Nuance will demonstrate the recently-announced voice biometrics and Daily Update virtual assistant capabilities as part of its expanded Dragon Drive connected car platform for automakers. Nuance voice and content innovations for the automotive market will also be on display throughout CES 2015, showcased as part of the QNX CAR™ Platform for Infotainment in both the BlackBerry QNX booth and Qualcomm booth located at Central Plaza, CP21A. Nuance's automotive voice capabilities will also be on display as part of the new Ford SYNC 3 system in the Ford booth.

A Voice for the Empowered Patient

Nuance will show how voice can make fitness and health tracking easier than ever with a prototype app for wearable consumer devices. Showcased at the Samsung Developer Conference in November, the prototype lets people input and track food and exercise details just by speaking.

Further engaging patients, the popular AskMD mHealth app for iOS and Android will be on display at CES. The app from Sharecare provides people with a more natural means of asking questions about symptoms or seeking tips to receive better care, with voice capabilities powered by Nuance.

Nuance will also demonstrate Florence, a virtual assistant that enables physicians to order labs, schedule patient appointments, and navigate complex patient charts quickly while keeping their attention on the patient.

Virtual Assistants for our Connected World

Nuance will display an array of devices, apps and consumer electronics that incorporate simple and intuitive engagement through conversational, intelligent virtual assistants - all designed for the next generation of wearables, the connected home and the Internet of Things. Devices to be showcased include the recently-unveiled i.amPULS smartband from will.i.am, the Samsung Gear S™ wearable and Samsung Gear™ Circle headset, and other Nuance innovations that demonstrate how voice and natural language will further influence our connected lifestyle. Nuance will also have on hand new apps that are changing the way businesses engage their consumers, including "Dom," the pizza-ordering virtual assistant for the Domino's mobile app. And, Nuance will be demonstrating how voice biometrics technology is integrated into apps, allowing businesses to offer consumers better security measures and authentication practices while eliminating traditional PINs and passwords for greater convenience.

All Nuance announcements and supporting collateral are available as part of the CES 2015 Press Kit.
