For immediate release NWS Holdings corporate volunteer team wins fourth gold in Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme

(19 December 2014, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited ("NWS Holdings" or "the Group"; Hong Kong stock code: 659) and its member companies received multiple awards at the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony, in recognition of the Group's concerted efforts and commitment to social responsibility. The Group's corporate volunteer team NWS Volunteer Alliance received the gold award in the volunteer team category for the fourth consecutive year, while Hip Hing Construction Co., Ltd., and Vibro (H.K.) Limited, and New World First Ferry Services Limited were awarded a Silver Award and Corporate Citizenship Logo respectively. In addition, the Group and four of its member companies received Merit Awards and Corporate Citizenship Logos in the enterprise category. The Group's parent company, New World Development Company Limited, garnered the Gold Award and Continuous Advancement Award.

The award scheme is a key element of the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Programme, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education. Now in its fifth year, the programme bestows the Corporate Citizenship Logo and Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award to enterprises that demonstrate outstanding success in nurturing a caring community while delivering economic, societal and environmental sustainability.
Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of NWS Holdings, said, "Volunteering is an integral part of the Group's ethos of corporate social responsibility. The Group fully supports the development of the Alliance and encourages its members to participate in community service to help the people in need. Under the slogan "We serve our society with what we know, what we have and what our heart has told us", the 2,500-strong Alliance has contributed over 120,000 hours of volunteer service for underprivileged children, young people, the elderly, minority groups, the mentally disabled, psychiatric rehabilitants and people in need. In the financial year of 2014, the Group joined hands with non-profit organisations on more than 180 community programmes, and the NWS Holdings Charities Foundation Limited donated approximately HK$3.7 million to sponsor charitable programmes in community welfare, environmental protection, education and health care.
