This year at New Mobility World - part of the International Motor Show (IAA) - in Frankfurt, NXP will demonstrate the future of secure connected mobility. NXP will be at the show in force speaking and showing visitors the latest in connected car technology.

The show kicks off on Sept 17 with our own Kurt Sievers' taking part in the IAA New Mobility World opening ceremony. He'll be sharing a stage with EU Commissioner of Digital Economy and Society, Guenther Oettinger, the transport ministers of Italy and Portugal, as well as Wieland Holfelder from Google to discuss Mobility 4.0. At IAA, NXP will also continue the debate on security and data protection in the connected car. As part of its Me & My Smarter World program, industry and political experts will engage in a discussion with Any Greenberg, WIRED senior editor, well-known in the industry for his recent Jeep hack report in the U.S.

On our booth Hall 3.1, booth A31, visitors will experience the latest smart mobility solutions including the Rinspeed Xchange; a concept car highlighting the future experience of autonomous driving, seamless entertainment and smart and secure car access. Other demonstrations include a race track demo showing secure mobility solutions for smart parking, road tolling, and other wireless identification applications. An intelligent traffic light will demonstrate how to improve the traffic flow and will automatically recognize school kids for improved road safety.

Journey into the smarter world

The world around us is getting smarter: We use our smartphones for everything from counting calories to online banking. We drive cars that connect to our mobile devices and the faces of our cities are being fundamentally reshaped by smart transport systems. Gartner estimates there will be 150million passenger cars connected to the Internet by 2020.

As well as providing personalised services designed for our comfort, convenience and entertainment, these vehicles will aware of their environment; capable of detecting and avoiding potential hazards, traffic jams and dramatically improving road safety and efficiency. However this convenience also exposes vehicles to malicious hacks, potentially leading to data theft, or even worse, manipulation of driving systems.

At IAA, NXP will bring together the most prominent players in smart mobility to address an increasingly pressing issue; ensuring safety, security and privacy of self-driving, connected cars.

With the ME & MY SMARTER WORLD programme, which started at Mobile World Congress, NXP Semiconductors will bring together fellow industry experts to explore this new age of connected devices and search for the answers to these fundamental questions. The programme will seek to draw knowledge and opinions from different industries in order to advance the debate.
