WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., July 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ocwen Financial Corporation (NYSE:OCN), a leading financial services holding company, and NID Housing Counseling Agency (NID), a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-approved counseling organization headquartered in Oakland, CA, will host a borrower outreach event on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in San Bernardino, California.

The Ocwen/NID event will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 2050 North Mount Vernon Avenue in San Bernardino, CA 92411. Admission and parking are free for all attendees. Homeowners whose loans are serviced by Ocwen are encouraged to attend this event to meet with Ocwen Home Retention Agents and NID HUD-approved housing counselors.

The event will offer borrowers in San Bernardino and the surrounding communities the opportunity to meet with Ocwen Home Retention Agents and NID housing counselors to explore loan modifications and other options to make their homes more affordable.

Homeowners who attend the event will receive the following:

  • Assistance with preparing their Request for Mortgage Assistance (RMA) package;
  • Information on borrower eligibility for state and federal foreclosure assistance programs;
  • Counsel on possible mortgage solutions tailored to fit their unique situations; and
  • Information on free, follow-up housing counseling and education with NID.

“Ocwen currently services over 265,000 mortgages in California, of which 15,000 are delinquent and 45,000 are underwater, indicating that many California homeowners may still benefit from loan modification solutions,” commented Jill Showell, Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations at Ocwen. “The housing crisis that swept the nation is far from over in many neighborhoods, including San Bernardino. Homeowner outreach events continue to make a difference in people’s lives and we are committed to working with NID to provide assistance directly to families in California.”

Since 2008, Ocwen has granted more than 80,000 loan modifications in California, over half of which included a reduction in principal.

“Homeownership is one of the cornerstones of a strong community because it offers a foundation for families to build wealth,” said Ray Carlisle, President of NID. “NID’s goal has always been to keep people in their homes whenever possible. Ocwen shares our mission and together we can make real progress in helping California homeowners find solutions to better afford and remain in their homes.”
