Office Depot (NYSE: ODP), celebrating 25 years as a leading global
provider of office
supplies and services, is pleased to announce that Kacie Howard,
owner of HuckleBerry
Pets in Daytona Beach, Fla., has been named the winner of this
year's "Official Small Business of NASCAR®, Courtesy of Office Depot"
sweepstakes. Office Depot, the Official Office Products Partner of
NASCAR®, partnered with 3M for this national promotion, and Howard was
one of two finalists.
Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet
Impala, featured the HuckleBerry
Pets logo on his race car during today's rain-postponed NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series? AdvoCare 500 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, while
fellow driver Greg Biffle featured the small business logo of
sweepstakes finalist Sara Mortensen, owner of Bales
Mold Service, Inc., in Downers Grove, Ill., on his No. 16 3M Ford.
As the small business featured on the highest-finishing driver's car at
the end of the race, Howard's HuckleBerry
Pets was crowned the 2011 "Official Small Business of NASCAR®,
Courtesy of Office Depot" and will receive the use of the "Official
Small Business of NASCAR, Courtesy of Office Depot" logo for one
year. Stewart finished the race third, while Biffle finished in 12th
place.
"I'm on top of the world right now!" Howard said. "The 'Official Small
Business of NASCAR, Courtesy of Office Depot' sweepstakes has been an
incredible experience from the moment I found out that HuckleBerry
Pets was selected as one of this year's finalists. I'm extremely
grateful for everything Office Depot has done for me and for this
amazing opportunity. And I can't thank Tony Stewart enough for his
performance during today's race...what a finish!"
Howard and Mortensen were introduced as the sweepstakes finalists on
September 2 during a press conference held at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Howard, 32, was randomly paired with Stewart, while Mortensen, 27, was
matched with Biffle.
Both finalists received a $10,000 small business makeover from Office
Depot and a VIP experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway. If Stewart or
Biffle had won the race, the small business featured on the winning car
would have taken home $1 million.
"I am so excited that I was able to help Kacie (Howard) become this
year's 'Official Small Business of NASCAR, Courtesy of Office Depot'
sweepstakes winner," said Stewart, who is a successful entrepreneur with
13 small businesses of his own. "Kacie is a great example of a small
business owner who has worked hard to build her company from the ground
up, and I am very proud to help Office Depot provide a deserving small
business owner like Kacie with this kind of opportunity."
